Expect a remarkable journey through the scenic landscapes of North-East India on this tour. Begin in Guwahati, then transfer to Shillong, visiting the serene Umiam Lake en route. Experience the breathtaking Laitlum Grand Canyon and the sacred Mawphlang forest, home to rare medicinal plants. Explore Shillong’s majestic Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak before heading to Cherrapunjee, famed for its stunning waterfalls and caves. Enjoy a boat ride in Dawki and the picturesque Mawlynnong Village, known for its cleanliness and Living Root Bridges. Conclude with a visit to the tranquil Jaintia Hills, before returning to Guwahati, with an optional visit to the revered Kamakhya Temple.
Upon arrival at Guwahati, our tour representative will greet you at the airport and assist with your transfer to Shillong. En route, visit Umiam Lake, a popular tourist spot in Shillong. Known as “Bara Pani” or the Big Water, Umiam Lake is a vast and scenic reservoir, part of the first Hydel Power Project in this North-East Indian state. Upon arrival in Shillong, check-in at your hotel. The evening is free for leisure.

After breakfast, head towards Laitlum Grand Canyon, (Sunday closed) a breathtaking and picturesque tourist destination perched atop the East Khasi Hills of Shillong. Laitlum, meaning “The End of Hills” or “The End of The World,” offers stunning gorges and steep stairways leading to the lush valley below. Later, drive to Mawphlang and enjoy a short trek around Lawkyntang, also known as Mawphlang Sacred Grove. This sacred forest, covering 80 hectares, is preserved by the locals due to their religious beliefs and is home to rare medicinal plants and trees. Remember, taking anything from the forest, even a leaf, is prohibited. Proceed to Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak (Wednesday closed) then return to Shillong.

After breakfast, drive to Sohra (Cherrapunjee). Sohra is famous for its natural beauty, including valleys, waterfalls, caves, and canyons. En route, visit Mawkdok Valley viewpoint. In Cherrapunjee, visit Wahkabah Falls, the Garden of Caves, Arwah Cave, Nohkalikai Falls, Mawsmai Cave, Seven Sisters Falls, and Eco Park. The evening is free for leisure.

After breakfast, drive to the village of Dawki, which lies on the border between India and Bangladesh. Dawki–Tamabil is one of the few road border crossings between the two countries. Take some photos at the border, then proceed to Mawlynnong Village. Enjoy a boat ride in Dawki if the weather is clear and the service is available. Visit Borhill Falls on the way to Mawlynnong, the cleanest village in India. See a Living Root Bridge and explore the village with its paved walkways and beautiful flowerbeds. Enjoy a panoramic view of the plains of Bangladesh from the Sky Walk, a towering structure made entirely of bamboo.

After breakfast, start your tour of the Jaintia Hills, known for their majestic hills, rich vegetation, and mineral deposits. Visit Krangsuri Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in India, and the village of Nartiang, home to the remnants of the Summer Palace of the Jaintia King and the Nartiang Monoliths, a large collection of ancient stones. Visit Thadlaskein Lake and then return to Shillong.

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Guwahati. An optional visit to Kamakhya Temple can be arranged. The Kamakhya Temple on Nilachal Hills in Guwahati is one of the oldest and most revered centers of Tantric practices, dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya and is among the oldest of the 51 Shakti Peeths. After your visit, proceed to Guwahati Airport for your onward flight. If you wish to include the Kamakhya Temple visit in your itinerary, schedule your return flight for after 3:00 pm.
